A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Hon. Yunus Akintunde has felicitated with Muslims across the globe on the occasion of this year’s Mawlid Nabbiy celebration.
Hon. Yunus, in a statement made available to OYOINSIGHT.COM on Thursday evening, charged Muslims to use the occasion to echo the need for peace and tranquility in our communities.
He also called on Nigerians to use this moment to seek for Allah’s intervention in the affairs of the country.
He wrote: “On the occasion of this year’s Mawlud Nabiyy celebration, I congratulate my fellow brothers and sisters in Islam.
“Today is significant not only because it was the day the best of mankind, Prophet Muhammad was born but also because it is a day to reflect on his teachings.
“At this point in time, it is important to echo one of the most salient of his teachings – peace.
‘Prophet Muhammad throughout his life emphasized how important it is for us to embrace peace and foster unity, always.
“As Nigerians, we are currently at a time when we have to embrace peaceful coexistence more than ever before.
“As we celebrate the birth of the Prophet, I charge everyone to see it as an avenue to continue to engage in acts that will not tamper with peace and tranquility in our respective community.
“I also urge us to use this auspicious moment to call on the Almighty to being tremendous growth to our country, Nigeria.”
