Despite the massive increase in the monthly amount allocated to Oyo State by the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), the leadership of Oyo East local government has resorted to begging to raise funds for the renovation of its local government secretariat, OYOINSIGHT.COM can exclusively report.

Every month, the federal account allocation committee (FAAC) distributes federal revenue to all 36 states and 774 local governments in Nigeria.

This crucial funding is expected to be shared between the state and its local governments to drive development and assist government at different levels in fulfilling their responsibilities.

In 2023, Oyo State received N207.37bn from the federation account and in 2024, the state was one of the twelve across the country that recorded a 40 percent increase in the amount it received from the FAAC.

However, in spite of this development, Oyo East local government has resorted to begging for fund for projects as primary as the renovation of its secretariat.

“We extend our warmest greetings and express our sincere anticipation as we trying to bring your attention to the state of the Oyo East Local Government Secretariat Complex in Korobo, Oyo.

“Once a shining beacon of administrative pride, it is now in leed of revival. We believe that revitalizing this crucial structure is a collective responsibility that extends beyond the government, and we are hopeful that you will lend your sepport as a patriote leader!

“Your assistance in funding the complete renovation of this Secretariat –either through cash or materials–will be greatly appreciated,” one of the letters requesting for assistance spotted by OYOINSIGHT.COM read.

“We graciously accept material donations such as paints, cement, roofing sheets, office furniture, and floor tiles,” the letter added.
