The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Orelope Local Government Area of Oyo State hereby categorically refutes and dismisses the misleading claims circulating in certain media reports alleging that no primary election was conducted for the House of Representatives seat in Orelope Local Government, Igboho on Saturday, 16th May 2026.

For the avoidance of doubt, a valid, peaceful, and properly conducted primary election took place at LA Primary School, Ebedi, Igboho, in strict compliance with the party constitution, approved electoral guidelines, and established procedures governing APC primary elections. The exercise was duly supervised and endorsed by the recognized leadership of the party in Orelope Local Government Igboho, led by Hon. Moshood Adejumobi, APC Local Government Chairman, and Mr. John Kolade, APC Local Government Secretary.

The primary election was conducted under the supervision of the duly constituted Electoral Panel headed by Hon. Samuel Adegoke Okunlade as Chairman and Hon. (Barr.) Muhammed Deji Abdulsalam as Secretary. Both the party leadership and the electoral panel expressed full satisfaction with the transparency, credibility, and orderly conduct of the exercise.

The election was witnessed by respected party stakeholders and leaders, including Hon. Sunday Owoade, Hon. Asimi Alabi, Lord Balogun, alongside other accredited stakeholders, delegates, and party faithful drawn from across the wards in Orelope Local Government Area. Delegates were properly accredited, voting proceeded peacefully, and results were openly collated in accordance with the constitution and guidelines of the party.

At the conclusion of the exercise, Hon. Olatubosun George Oladele emerged winner after securing a total of 3,325 votes, defeating other co-contestants in what was widely acknowledged as a free, fair, and transparent democratic process. The officially signed Orelope APC House of Representatives Primary Election Result Sheet stands as clear and verifiable evidence of the duly conducted election.

The party leadership states unequivocally that individuals or groups claiming that no primary election held do not represent the official structure, authority, or recognized leadership of APC in Orelope Local Government. Their statements are unauthorized, misleading, and capable of creating unnecessary confusion within the party and among the general public. The APC recognizes only duly constituted party organs and accredited officials empowered to speak on behalf of the party.

The Orelope APC remains firmly committed to internal democracy, transparency, and strict adherence to lawful procedures. The successful conduct of this primary election reflects the collective will, participation, and democratic consent of party members and stakeholders within the local government.

We therefore call on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), party faithful, and the general public to disregard any contrary narrative suggesting that the primary election did not hold. The process was legitimate, transparent, and conducted in full compliance with party rules and electoral regulations.

Signed:
APC Primary Election Electoral Panel, Orelope LGA, Igboho.

Hon. Samuel Adegoke Okunlade
Chairman

Hon. (Barr.) Muhammed Deji Abdulsalam
