Popular Ibadan-based broadcaster, Oriyomi Hamzat, who was arrested by men of the department of state security, DSS, allegedly on a petition by the Oyo State government is yet to released 5 days after he willingly presented himself to them.
OYO INSIGHT had reported how DSS men stormed Hamzat’s studio, allegedly seizing all movable gadgets in the process. Though the 37-year old was not in the country as at the time, his staff members were said to have been taken along to the outfit’s headquarters.
Hamzat, who returned from Ghana the second day, visited the DSS office with his lawyer. He was later detained. His lawyer has been unable to see him since then, OYO INSIGHT was informed.
OYO INSIGHT cannot confirm why his studio was allegedly ransacked and why he was detained but the source disclosed that “He’s been in detention since Wednesday. He was arrested on Wednesday by the men of DSS, Oyo Command and detained at the Command headquarters, Ibadan
“He was picked up by the command due to some petitions against him, including complaints over his activities by the state government.
“He was said to have been suspended by the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, since 2016but still operating.
It was, however, unsure whether he will be taken to court tomorrow.
