Makinde Didn’t Contract COVID-19 At Ibadan Rally — Media Aide

The Chief Press Secretary to Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, Mr Taiwo Adisa, said on Tuesday that his boss did not contact the dreaded COVID 19 virus at the much talked about PDP unification rally in Ibadan.

The governor’s spokesman, who spoke to Silverbird Television on Tuesday, said that the governor sis not show any symptom of COVID 19 as at the time the rally was held.

He also stated the none of those who attended the rally has tested positive adding that there was no.known case of the vrus in Ibadan when the rally was held.

After the rally, Governor Makinde acruakky put out a message to indicate that if he had got a hint of the existence of coronavirus in the state an hour to the rally, he would have canceled the event and he took responsibility. But we can’t afford to politicise the issue of corona virus,” he said.

The governor’s spokesperson also.said that his boss jotted to Abuja the day after the rally and met with many of his colleagues, some of whom have tested positive.

While speaking on Silverbird Television (STV) on Tuesday morning, Adisa said there is no need to politicise the issue of COVID-19 pandemic.

He explained that the issue of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rally on March 18th, 2020 doesn’t come to play because there was no known incident of the virus in Oyo state as at the time of the rally.

He also insisted that the governor did not have any symptom (s) at that time.
He said:

“The issue of the March 18 PDP southwest Zonal Unification Rally doesn’t come to play because there was no known incident of the virus in Oyo state and the governor didn’t also have any symptom(s) as at that time.”

“The governors went back to Abuja the following day and they held series of meetings. The governor had contact with people that are know. So, we should not politicise an issue like this.”
