I am amazed at the kind of support Governor Seyi Makinde supporters are providing for him; they are tactless, empty and childish! Both in conduct and thought. What worries me most is the lame excuse or give-away comments they always provide for GSM’s actions or inactions.

GSM should try to look outward in getting sincere advice that can help in stabilizing his government. They are giving him a support similar to what was given to the immediate past occupant of Agodi house when the latter was engaging in unpopular projects. Unfortunately, perhaps he is not aware, GSM styles of governance is making people to regret the fight put up against Ajimobi in the last administration.

Google search engine

When some of us that are in APC, though not necessarily an Ajimobi fans, give opinions about ineffective and lackluster approach of GSM on some issues, our opinions are discarded with a wave of hand, and the common response from GSM proponents begins with “when your Ajimobi was there…” They fail to differentiate between the campaign and governance! This has greatly exposed GSM administration’s inadequacies and grey areas. Otherwise, how do you explain the puerile showmanship regarding the palliative rice from federal government, how would one reconcile the discordant releases on the UCH isolation centre from both the government and the management of UCH, what of the needless rumored fight between the governor and his deputy, what explanation do we give the administrative error of preventing some business men and women (for instance, the motor part sellers in Agodi, the plank sellers in bodija and sango, the fabric sellers in Gbagi and host of others) from going to work, yet, marketers in Agbeni, Ogunpa, etc. that are not captured in the categories of providers of essential goods and services, are allowed to open shops. The one that deserves explanation is the rationale behind allowing the commercial buses and cabs to operate while announcing over the radio that people should stay at home for Covid-19. What an administrative flip-flop!

This government is less than a year, there is still ample opportunity to redress some of these failings. This is the time for this government to take stock and effect weeding. I personally took the trending issue about Seyi/Olaniyan rift as rumour. Whoever is advising governor to engage in battle with his deputy in the first quarter of their joint political sojourn is an enemy of his administration. The governor picked his deputy for two obvious reasons: his religion and his geo-political zone. Can Seyi get support from these entities if their representatives is removed from the government, even if replacement comes from same? I doubt it.
