Tinubu Congratulates Ex-First Bank CEO Adeduntan On Installation As Balogun Of Oyo

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former Group Chief Executive Officer of First Bank of Nigeria, Oloye (Dr.) Adesola Kazeem Adeduntan, on his formal installation as the Balogun of Oyo.

OYO INSIGHT can confirm that Adeduntan is scheduled to be installed on Saturday, September 5, 2026, by His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, Alaafin of Oyo.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga on Thursday, President Tinubu described Adeduntan’s career in banking and finance as distinguished, particularly his tenure as Group Chief Executive Officer of First Bank.

The President said Adeduntan led a far-reaching transformation of one of Nigeria’s oldest and most important financial institutions during his tenure.

Tinubu also acknowledged his contributions to national development through enterprise, education and philanthropy, including his service as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Abiola Ajimobi Technical University.

The President further noted Adeduntan’s philanthropic efforts through the Adesola Adeduntan Foundation, particularly investments in modern primary healthcare centres serving communities in Oyo and Ibadan.

Tinubu urged Adeduntan to bring to his new role the same discipline, strategic foresight and commitment to excellence that characterised his professional and public life.

“As you assume this historic responsibility, I urge you to bring to the service of the Alaafin, the Oyo Kingdom and its people, the same discipline, strategic foresight and commitment to excellence that have distinguished your professional and public life,” the President said.

He then described the installation as both an honour and a call to greater service, urging Adeduntan to deploy his experience, influence and resources towards promoting peace, opportunity, development and the preservation of Oyo’s rich cultural heritage.
