Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a Sunday Igboho, like other courageous ethnic militia, is an effect of a cause and the cause is pro-capitalist system collapse and inability of government at all levels to guarantee welfare and security of lives and property of citizens across the country.
In the absence of government’s ability to stem the wave of kidnapping and banditry, and government’s helplessness or subjugation by bandits, the Sunday Igbohos of every ethnic groups are bound to interpret the crisis and proffer solution according to their understanding, wrongly or rightly. When government fails to protect the people, citizens would be forced to defend themselves against themselves perceived as enemies because nature abhors a vacumm. Preservation of life is natural and instinctive.
Gov. Seyi Makinde’s broadcast on the unnecessary 7 – day illegal ultimatum given to Fulani by Igboho to leave Igangan town of persistent kidnap and murder of natives allegedly carried out by nomadic Fulani herdsmen, was ill- advised, panicky and insensitive to all interests, and blinded to causes and effects in sociological approach to conflict resolution
A no holds barred peace meeting involving all peace loving stakeholders and security agencies including all local militia across ethnic grouos should have been held right there in Igangan to reassure everyone including Fulani and Yoruba and other tribes living in Igangan and the entire ibarapa land of safety and security of their lives and property. Peace and security cannot be decreed by a mere gubernatorial broadcast.
