Siblings Sitting NECO, 3 Others Killed In Ibadan As Petrol Truck Loses Brake

Tragedy struck in Ibadan on Monday as a loaded petrol tanker lost control and crushed five persons to death.

Two of the victims were said to be siblings who were sitting for the ongoing National Examination Council exam.

The PUNCH gathered that the truck suffered brake failure and the driver lost control of the vehicle before crushing passengers and the driver in a taxi to death.

The tanker reportedly fell into a ditch afterwards.

The accident happened around Celica area on the New Ife-Ibadan Road, in the Egbeda Local Government Area of Oyo State.

One of the eyewitnesses, Kamaru Oyerinde, told our correspondent that the accident happened around 7am.

The Sector Commander of the FRSC in Oyo State, Uche Chukwurah, said, “Five persons lost their lives in the crash.  Three male adults and two female adults died

“Preliminary investigation showed that the tanker suffered brake failure.”
