JUST IN: Mass Resignation In Ogbomosho Council As Supervisory Councillors Quit In Droves

Ogbomoso South Local Government Area of Oyo State has been hit by a wave of resignations, with five political appointees, including the Chief of Staff to the council chairman and three Supervisory Councillors, quitting their positions on the same day.

The officials tendered their resignations in separate letters dated Tuesday, November 3, 2026, addressed to the Executive Chairman of the local government, with all the departures taking immediate effect.

Those who resigned are the Chief of Staff, Olawale Sunday Folarin; Assistant Secretary, Onadokun Olusola Peter; and three Supervisory Councillors, Ademola Peter Adedamola, Adediran Gideon Aduramigba and Oyeleye Oyewumi Oluwafunso.

Adedamola was responsible for Works and Special Duties, Aduramigba supervised Agriculture and Natural Resources, while Oluwafunso oversaw Community Development Affairs.

The simultaneous exits have affected key positions in the council’s administrative and political structure, leaving vacancies in the office of the Chief of Staff, the Assistant Secretary’s office and three supervisory departments.

In their resignation letters, the five officials thanked the council chairman for the opportunity to serve and acknowledged the support they received during their respective tenures.

While some expressed satisfaction with their contributions to the administration, none gave a specific reason for leaving their positions.

The development comes amid political realignments in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections, with tensions and shifting alliances involving political figures associated with Governor Seyi Makinde and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

Although the timing of the resignations has attracted attention against this political backdrop, the letters did not indicate that the officials were leaving over disagreements with the administration or that they intended to defect to another party.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Ogbomoso South Local Government, the Oyo State Government nor the APM had issued an official explanation for the mass resignations.
