Some members of the Labour Party have launched a new group within the party named Labour Party Patriotic Members Congress.
Speaking at a press conference in Ibadan on Thursday, the national spokesperson of the new group, Femi Dexter Akin-Alamu, explained that it was launched for “promoting transparency, accountability, equity, and inclusiveness within the party.”
“LPPMC is deeply passionate about the Labor Party and Nigeria’s political landscape and we are totally committed to the prosperity of the Labor Party.
Our great party is facing several challenges, some of which are public, while others are not.
“These challenges, largely attributed to the lack of transparent and effective leadership at various levels of the party, have led to factions that threaten to divide us.”
He explained that the group is not a faction because its allegiance is the party, not any individual or group.
“We are here to protect the best interests of our party, ensuring its growth and unity.
“LPPMC believes in a brighter future for Nigeria, where the people play a pivotal role in nation-building. The Labour Party has been chosen as the vehicle for change, and we are committed to nurturing this awareness for the betterment of our nation. We are here to reposition our party, making it a party of relevance in Nigeria,” he added.
