The Oyo Kajola Group (OKG), a socio-political group working for the election of Engr. Seyi Makinde as the governor of Oyo State in the March 9 governorship election, has congratulated the senator-elect of Oyo South Senatorial District and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Muhammed Kola Balogun, on his election as the senator representing the district.

This was just as it appreciated voters in the constituency for being firm, determined and courageous in electing the PDP candidate in Saturday’s poll, noting that they “have finally taken their destinies into their hands to elect shared prosperity and people-oriented representation.”

The group also commended the courage and steadfastness of the electoral umpire, which stood firm in the face of immense pressure to ensure that the wish of the voters prevailed.

The group, which had earlier rallied support for Balogun on the ground that “his candidature will benefit the people of the constituency,” said the decision by voters to reject selfish leadership and executive warrogance was commendable.

The Oyo Kajola Group, in a statement signed by its media coordinator, Taiwo Ogunlade, said the people of the state would have to complete the cycle of liberating the state from slavery and suffering by voting for Engr Seyi Makinde in the March governorship election.

“The decision by the teeming voters in Ibadan South-East, Ibadan North-East, Ibadan South-West, Ibadan North-West, Ibadan North, Ido, Ibarapa East, Ibarapa North and Ibarapa Central to elect Balogun is a step in the direction. It was an endorsement for humaneness and humility, which should be hallmarks of good representatives but are lacking in some individuals.

“Our people have begun a great journey to liberate Oyo State from misrule and slavery, beginning with the defining step taken on Saturday to elect Balogun. They will have to complete that cycle and walk the same path on March 9 by electing Engr Seyi Makinde, as this will seal the fate of those seeking to enslave our great state and make it an appendage of a selfish empire.”
