The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo State, is in a state of shock as a result of the recent election petition tribunal judgement which upturned the victory of its candidate, Hon. Kazeem Olayanju, as winner of Irepo/Olorunsogo State Constituency.
OYOINSIGHT.COM recalls that the tribunal had sacked the PDP candidate and declare the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, winner of the March 9, 2019 election in the state constituency.
A statement by the party’s publicity secretary, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, states that “The judgment, according to members of PDP, was not a true reflection of the outcome of the March 2019 State House of Assembly election of which the PDP candidate, Hon Kaseem Olayanju, won convincingly.
The party wishes to assure our candidate, Hon. Kaseem Olayanju, and teeming members not to feel despair as we will give all necessary support to ensure that justice prevails.
The Chairman of PDP in Oyo State, Alh Kunmi Mustapha, has just set up a three man panel with the State Secretary, Alh Wasiu Adeleke, as Chairman, State Legal Adviser, Barrister Idowu Oyedele, and the State Publicity Secretary, Engr Akeem Olatunji, to study the judgment and report back to the State Working Committee of PDP for necessary action.
We hereby urge our members to support the party and her candidate, Hon Kaseem Olayanju, in prayers while we pursue the Appeal to a logical conclusion and we are hopeful that there will be light at the end of the tunnel.
In God we trust.
Signed
Engr Akeem Olatunji
Publicity Secretary
Oyo State PDP.
