Jumoke Akinjide, a former minister of state for Federal Capital Territory, has said that she has no rift with Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State.
Speaking on Political Circuit, a Fresh 105.9 FM political circuit anchored by Mayor Isaac Brown, the Ibadan-born politician and lawyer said she is with the governor hundred percent adding that the governor has performed excellently well and deserves a second term and was of the view that the G5 governors imbroglio will soon become a thing of the past.
She also explained that Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is the best to take up the mantle of leadership in Nigeria come 2023.
According to Akinjide, Atiku is needed at a time the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has brought the country, not down the ground, but down the water, with a collapsed economy, no productivity and high degree of insecurity and banditry all over the place.
She said people should not be talking of ethnic and primordial sentiment this time around but discuss issues that will bail out the country from the present quagmire.
Responding to a question on ‘omo wa ni’ syndrome, Akinjide noted that Sen.Tinubu has never said ‘awa lokan’ rather he personalised the philosophy as ’emi lokan’, analysing further that Tinubu did not allow Amotekun to work in Lagos despite the security challenges, he has presented a Muslim/Muslim ticket, an arrangement which is telling us that Christians in the country do not matter, just for selfish reasons but not for the interest of the Yorubas.
Akinjide, who is the deputy director general (women affairs) for Atiku Presidential campaign noted that some people are using Lagos state as the yardstick for the performance of Sen.Tinubu in government, she rolled out statistics that internationally, Lagos was ranked the second least habitable city in the world.
“For twelve years, “Akinjide stated, “Lagos has been struggling on rail and infrastructures, despite being the fifth largest economy in Africa, living in Lagos is horrific and terrible.”
She recalled that in 2015, the APC mounted a propaganda that the PDP was corrupt but the whole world could see now that no government can be more corrupt than what Nigerians are currently witnessing with the naira snow diving everyday, the youths with the ‘japa’ syndrome, the best of brains leaving in droves and Nigeria ranked as the poverty capital of the world.
“And that’s the reason why those who left the PDP to form APC with them left in anger when they discovered that Buhari government is horror show.”
On why Atiku is the best material for the Presidential job, Akinjide stated that he has promised to take out ten million people out of poverty every year by creating credits, vocational and entrepreneurship trainings across the country.
Atiku, according to her has been talking of devolution of power to states since 2004, restructure the country such that states will manage their resources, education, health and the security system with the establishment of state police.
