Public Square Town Hall Meeting: 12 Oyo Guber Candidates Set for Independence Day Edition In Ibadan

Twelve candidates contesting the 2027 Oyo State governorship election are expected to participate in the Independence Day edition of the Public Square Town Hall Meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 1, 2026, in Ibadan.

According to an announcement by the General Manager of Success FM Ibadan, Alhaji Jagunmade Adesina, the programme organised by the station will hold at the Otunba Subomi Balogun Conference Centre, UI Hotels, University of Ibadan. Arrival and registration are scheduled for 12 noon to 1 p.m., while the town hall will commence at 1 p.m.

The candidates invited to the event are Hazeem Gbolarumi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); Senator Sharafadeen Alli of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Hon Bimbo Adekanmbi of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM); Chief Adegoboyega Taofeeq Adegoke of the African Democratic Congress (ADC); and Comrade Sikiru Bayo Titilola-Sodo of the Action Alliance (AA).

Others are Mr Sola Kareem of the Labour Party (LP); Mr Kunle Olatunji of the Action Democratic Party (ADP); Mr Yusuf Akim Adebola of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC); Oloye Saheed Oladele of the African Action Congress (AAC); Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat of Accord; Mogaji Olusegun Agboola of the Social Democratic Party (SDP); and Dr Yunus Kareem Ayandoye of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).

The town hall is designed to provide citizens and political stakeholders with an opportunity to engage directly with the governorship candidates on issues affecting Oyo State ahead of the 2027 election.

The programme will be broadcast live on Success 105.3 FM, Ibadan, with additional coverage on Success FM Live on Facebook and the station’s other social media platforms.

According to the organisers, entry into the conference hall will be on a first-come, first-served basis and subject to available space, while security arrangements have been put in place for the event.

The Independence Day edition is expected to bring together political candidates, citizens, civil society representatives, community leaders and other stakeholders for discussions on issues concerning the state.
