Against accusations by leaders of the coalition parties that Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, has betrayed agreements reached before March 9, 2019 governorship election, the leadership of the Labour Party, LP, has urged for patience.
OYOINSIGHT.COM recalled that the candidates of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Sen. Olufemi Lanlehin; Barr. Sharafadeen Alli of the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP and Chief Bolaji Ayorinde of Social Democratic Party, SDP, had stepped down for Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
In their separate new year messages, Lanlehin and Alli had taken a swipe at Makinde for failing to honour the coalition agreement.
But in a statement yesterday by the secretary of the LP in the state, Rev’d Abraham Fakayode, he asked for more time for Makinde.
Makinde, he said, would fulfill the agreement, adding that ADC and ZLP are not alone. He added that the political appointment promised LP has also not been fulfilled.
Saying that he knew the governor as a young boy and assuring that he doesn’t betray trust, Fakayode said that it would be too early to comment on the coalition agreement.
