Miffed by the rumour making the rounds that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is yet to substitute Dr Dele Ajadi’s name as governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, the Sen. Olufemi Lanlehin Campaign Organisation, SOLANCO, has described it as untrue.

A statement by Lanre Ogundipe, who is SOLANCO’s Director of Media, Publicity & Protocol, stated that the rumour was the handiwork of the ruling party who are jittery about the acceptance the campaign of Lanlehin has received.

LANLEHIN’S INEC RECOGNITION ALREADY ESTABLISHED. RUMOURS TO THE CONTRARY BETTER IGNORED

Our attention has been drawn to a widely circulating rumour peddled by mischief makers and orchestrated by an otherwise respected ally, advertising that our principal, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin (SOLAN) is yet to be recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as the Oyo State ADC governorship candidate for the 2 March, 2019 polls.

While we would ordinarily have ignored such as idle talk, peddled by persons with nothing more to offer the polity, and then continue with the business of propagating the SOLAN agenda, whose thrust is the entrenchment of a people centered government in Oyo State, we deem it necessary to correct whatever misinformation our jittery opponents, who seeing the massive reception we received while on Tuesday’s roadshow, and the consequent defeat awaiting them in the coming polls, have been spreading.

For the avoidance of doubt, having concluded all processes relating to the substitution of candidates, which included the withdrawal of Dr Bamidele Ajadi, the hitherto tentative candidate, and the submission of all necessary documents to INEC by the ADC NWC as empowered by relevant legal provisions, informing the Commission of the subsequent replacement of Dr Ajadi’s name with that of Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, we’re surprised, and indeed baffled, that anyone could still be spreading unnecessary falsehood and cheap blackmail in a grand design to pull down an already accepted brand, and forestall a people’s government already waiting in the wings.

We like to remind them, that INEC, not being a flippant organization, has laid down guidelines which it has been following, which we have no reason to fault, and since candidate substitution isn’t peculiar to the ADC alone, but to all parties, even in Oyo State, and is in fact, a nationwide exercise, we see no reason while this should be sensationalized.

By INEC guidelines, publication of list of nominated candidates for Presidential/National Assembly is 17 January, 2019, while that of Governorship/State Assembly is 31 January, 2019. Until then, no insinuation as to candidate’s acceptance is worthy of attention.
