The political landscape in Oyo State received a major boost as former governorship candidate under the Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party (ANRP) in the 2019 general elections, Olalekan Ayorinde, was formally and specially welcomed into the All Progressives Congress (APC)*l by top party leaders and chieftains in Oyo State.
The event marked a significant moment for the APC, as Ayorinde, widely regarded as one of the notable governorship candidates in the 2019 election, officially aligned with the progressive fold in a move described by party stakeholders as strategic and impactful ahead of future political engagements.
Olalekan Ayorinde, a proud son of Oyo State, was born into the respected Ayorinde Family of Oranyan in Ibadan North East Local Government Area*, and hails from *Ward 2* of the local government.
He was warmly received by the Oyo State APC Chairman, Chief Moses Alake, alongside the APC Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, Hon. Azeez Asimolowo Elewure, the Ward 2 Chairman, Chief Morufu Ogboriefon, as well as other apex leaders and top party members across the state.
Speaking during the reception, Olalekan Ayorinde stated that his decision to join the APC was not driven by personal ambition or the desire to contest for any political office, but rather by his commitment to support the progress of the party and contribute meaningfully to the development of Ibadan and Oyo State as a whole.
According to him, service to the people and the advancement of the state have always remained his core motivation as a statesman and a true son of the soil.
In his remarks, the APC Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, Hon. Azeez Elewure, applauded Ayorinde for joining the party, describing him as a valuable asset whose experience, popularity, and grassroots connection would further strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He added that Ayorinde’s entrance into the party aligns with the vision and confidence earlier expressed by the State Chairman, Chief Moses Alake, who also welcomed the development as a sign of greater victories to come for the APC in Oyo State.
