Few days after the just concluded general elections, Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s chief of staff, Dr ‘Gbade Ojo, has resigned his appointment.

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, had lost the governorship to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. This was after the party had won 2 and 9 senatorial and house of representatives seats.

The Ibadan-born technocrat, OYO INSIGHT was told, was last seen in office few days before February 23, 2019 presidential and national assembly election.

He was said to have dropped his resignation letter earlier this week.

But Ojo, OYO INSIGHT further gathered, left politics to concentrate on his teaching job at the University of Ilorin.

Sources close to Ojo claimed that the authorities of the University of Ilorin had given him ultimatum that his leave of absence is taking lots of time; that he should resign his teaching appointment or continue with politics.

However, another source revealed that Ojo, while in government, managed to cope under ‘abnormal’ circumstances as he was just a ‘figure head’ chief of staff.

”He practically combined his role as chief of staff with political advisory post. However, he was badly treated. He didn’t enjoy what his colleagues in other states enjoyed. His office was not befitting; it was in a corner. He had no influence,” a government source added.

Towards the tail end of Ajimobi’s first term in office, he was made special adviser on political matters. In May, 2016, he was elevated to the position of chief of staff.
