The beneficiaries had been selected for the free eye surgeries from the over 1,000 residents of Ibadan that were treated for various health issues such as Malaria, Diabetes, Hypertension, and Eye Cataract during a recent medical outreach programme organised by DAKA Foundation, held at Mapo hall, Ibadan.

Speaking with newsmen upon their return from the Eye Foundation Hospital, Ijebu, Ogun state, the beneficiaries of the free eye surgery recounted how greatly their ability to see has improved.

Beneficiaries to include Jimoh Taiwo and Idowu Lawal narrated that prior to the surgery, they could no more cross the road, without being aided, but now they have a clear sight.

Similarly, Adejare Hakeem and Samuel Taiwo recounted that they suffered serious eye cataract such that they only recognised people if they came close, until the surgery which has improved their eye vision.

Other beneficiaries also recounted that some of them went in for eye surgery virtually blind, but had gained back their sight.

Noting that eye surgeries cost not less than N250,000, the beneficiaries were effusive in their praises of Dr Adesina Abidikugu, who they said had not only restored their sight but also lightened up their lives.

In his short remarks, Dr Adesina Abidikugu stated that the need to help the poor and less privileged who cannot afford getting quality health continues to inform his healthcare interventions.

Stressing that provision of healthcare services is expensive and cannot be left to government alone, Abidikugu called on individuals and groups to continue to support government in the interest of having a healthy society.
