The British deputy high commissioner, Mr. Peter Thomas has visited Sen. Monsurat Sunmonu at her Ibadan residence.
Sunmonu, who hails from Oyo town, was senate committee chairperson on foreign affairs, between 2015 and 2019.
During the courtesy visit, Thomas described the politician, who is the first and only female speaker of the Oyo State house of assembly, as a salt of the world whose legacies and international relations cannot be overlooked.
Thomas conveyed the goodwill message from Britain to her.
You will recall that Sunmonu served the British government for over 30 years before she ventured into Nigeria politics, her integrity earned her the courtesy visit
In her reaction, Sunmonu appreciated the gesture, promising to do her best in service to humanity
She thanked the visitor and the British Government for the honour.
