The Chairman of Ogbomoso Descendants Development Association (ODDA), retired AVM JB Adigun, has lauded the state government for the introduction of a rotational chairmanship for the leadership of the Council of Chiefs and Obas in the state.

Recall that the State House of Assembly had earlier this week passed a bill to rotate the chairmanship of the council between the Alaafin, Olubadan, and Soun, every two years.

In a statement made available to the press through the spokesperson of the Ogbomoso Descendants Development Association (ODDA), Olusegun Aremu says the rotational chairmanship is the best way to go.

“For us at the Ogbomoso Descendants Development Association (ODDA), we genuinely believe this new arrangement is the best and that’s why we are giving our full backing to the State Assembly.

“This rotational arrangement allows for true representation of various interests within the state and it also reflects the collective leadership that the Yorubas are known for,” Aremu noted in the statement.

The group explained that the passing of the bill now reflects the forward-thinking approach to governance of both the Governor, Seyi Makinde, and Speaker of the State Assembly, Debo Ogundoyin.

Urging all royal fathers in the state to see the arrangement as a way to foster unity, “ODDA pleads with all to join hands together for the development of our dear state.

“We plead with all our traditional rulers to please work together in harmony for the interest of their subjects. In Oyo State, what we need is unity, peace and love amongst our royal fathers because when this happens, it will have greater effect amongst the people of the state. Ipinle Oyo o ni baje.”
