AbdulFatai Buhari, senator representing Oyo North senatorial district, will collaborate with other lawmakers from the state and relevant committees of the National Assembly to expedite actions on facilitating relief for the Akesan Market traders who lost valuables in the early morning inferno that gutted the market today.
The All Progressives Congress APC lawmaker, who chairs the senate committee on land transport, described the incident as a sad and unexpected setback for traders, their dependants, oyo town and Oyo state in general.
He commiserated with the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi, the traders and people of Oyo and pray for quick recovery of their loss to the inferno.
“Akesan Market, popularly known as Oja Oba in Oyo state is one of the living monument which is relevant to Yoruba history and we must not allow the unexpected disaster to erase our pride and history,” he said.
Buhari also commiserated with the family of those who lost their lives during the incident and pray for the repose of their souls and comfort for their family.
He, however, called on all stakeholders to come together in supporting the victims, restoring the market back and make life easy for the traders.
