Ajimobi’s story is best described as a big success. He was the first second-term governor in Oyo State. And in death, he continues to succeed.
The wife he left behind is doing great as the most effective progressive politician in Oyo State today. After putting many people in positions at the centre, Chief Mrs. Fatima Florence Ajimobi is now the Nigerian Ambassador to Austria.
Ajimobi’s children are succeeding well, too, in government. His late daughter was SA to the Minister of Budget before her demise. His only son is the ‘deputy’ Minister of Livestock as Special Adviser on Livestock to the President.
From the national government to state, his followers ( commissioners, etc.) remain the biggest players: Dr. Zacch Adedeji, Executive Chairman, Nigeria Revenue Service; serving minister of power, Chief Joseph Tegbe; serving senators, Senator Fatai Buhari, Senator Yunus Akintunde; and other frontline players in the federal government.
At the state level, the incumbent Governor of Oyo State could not find any other persons capable of succeeding him than Ajimobi-made duo of Bimbo Adekanmbi and Open Salawu, products of Ajimobi, wholly. The two are the governorship and deputy governorship candidates of Governor Seyi Makinde’s APM, respectfully.
Some men die, and their names die. Ajimobi died, and his name became an institution in governments. Koseleri Continues As Ajimobi Lives On!
May the soul of Senator Abiola Isiaka Ajimobi continue to rest in peace.
