President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday wooed the voters in Oke Ogun, comprising 10 local governments in Oyo State, with a promise of establishing a federal polytechnic in the area if elected president for a second term.
Represented by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo in Saki, Buhari promised the monarchs of the Oke-Ogun area a federal polytechnic should the All Progressive Congress be given the opportunity to continue its governance after the 2019 presidential election.
Osinbajo also visited Igbeti and Kishi where he presented the state APC governorship candidate, Mr Bayo Adelabu, to the people and solicited their votes for him.
He said, “We have been touring Oke-Ogun for a few days now. We have received all the requests from the people and we will address them.
“Oke-Ogun deserves a federal institution; we will give you a federal polytechnic. We will also ensure that we see to the trans-border market in Saki. It will be part of our plans. Buhari is true to his words and we will do all we’ve promised.”
Osinbajo who is the first ever vice president to visit Oke-Ogun praised the people and acknowledged the constant support the progressive party had been receiving.
“Oke-Ogun is not a place we belittle at all. They support us all the time. The first thing is that we selected a minister for the first time in this area,” he said.
Osinbajo urged the people to ensure that good people were elected into office.
He said, “If we do not vote the right people, we will only pray in vain. Our problem in this country is not lack of ideas, but corruption. Every government has good ideas, but embezzlement would not allow them to actualise the ideas.
