Political opponents of Hon. Saheed Akinade-Fijabi, especially members of Unity Forum, the breakaway faction of the All Progressives Congress, APC, are mocking him over Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s consideration to replace him with another aspirant.

Fijabi is representing Ibadan North West/ South West federal constituency seat of the House of Representatives, Abuja, the same constituency where the governor comes.

The 41-year old lawmaker, who chairs the Reps committee on Telecommunication is ranking lawmaker who stands the chance of becoming a principal officer if elected for another term.

Fijabi, whose father is a popular socialite and electronic merchant in Ibadan, is one of the chief supporters of the governor, sees Ajimobi as a leader and a father who deserves his loyalty and support at all time.

OYO INSIGHT learnt that the First Lady, Mrs Florence Ajimobi, who takes Fijabi as a worthy son is supporting another famous person who is jostling for Fijabi’s seat.

The first lady’s preferred aspirant, this newspaper learnt, has successfully lobbied the first family and seems to have won their hearts.

It would also be recalled that Fijabi stood in defence of Ajimobi against communications minister, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, who has always been fighting the governor over the party structure.

Many had thought Fijabi’s open support during the last APC Congress that polarized the party would earn him the ticket for a third term.

He had relief on the governor’s directive for his next political move as he has never hid his love and respect for the number one man in the state.

Some of the governor’s supporters have however denied it saying that the it is the leaders in that constituency who becomes the candidate and not the governor.

One of Fijabi’s aide who preferred anonymity said the governor is not considering his boss’ ticket for anybody  because of Fijabi’s performance and  loyalty to the governor and APC in the state.
