Six aspirants vying to become the next Vice-chancellor of the University of Ibadan have released a list of seven viewpoints for consideration by stakeholders ahead of the commencement of a new selection process.
OYOINSIGHT recalls that following multiple allegations of fraud and malpractice that trailed the initial process, Prof. Babatunde Ekanola was elected to serve in acting capacity pending the conduct of a new selection process in the next six months.
The six aspirants, who released the joint statement are: Prof. O. O. Layiwola, Prof. E. O. Olapade, Prof. C. O. O. Kolawole, Prof. Temitope Alonge, Prof. O. G. Adenuwo and Prof. Adeyinka Aderinto.
“In the spirit of the atmosphere of collegiality being espoused by this event, we would like to place the viewpoints below before the Stakeholde4s as our contribution for forging a way forward out of the unfortunate situation and to initiating the healing process that would bring about lasting peace in our University,” they wrote.
The seven viewpoints listed are:
