In what looks like a strategy to block any of Governor Seyi Makinde from using the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Senatorial Monsurat Sunmonu isn’t leaving the party.
The son, Seun Ashamu, who is commissioner for energy, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, alongside others like Wasiu Olatunbosun, commissioner for information, culture and tourism, Niyi Adebisi, commissioner for agriculture and others serving in the Makinde administration.
They all announced their defectionn to the ruling PDP at a press conference in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Olatunbosun added that other defectors include, special advisers to the Governor, elected vice-chairmen at local governments, elected councillors and Supervisory councillors.
He noted that the party members made the decision to integrate themselves into the PDP fold to further enhance the reelection of Makinde in 2023.
