Sunday Dare Reacts To DSTV’s Monopoly, Congratulates Nigeria On New Broadcast Rights Regulation

Nigeria’s Sports Minister Mr. Sunday Dare has applauded Federal Government decision to withdraw DSTV’s exclusive rights monopoly as the only Television Network to broadcast Sporting events.

The Oyo state born Minister in a series of tweets commended the Federal Government of Nigeria for the courage to effect such a right response to the yearnings of sports lovers in the country who have for long waited to catch a glimpse of Sports events taking place around the Nation.

“I applaud the decision of the Federal Government as conveyed by the Information Ministry to prohibit exclusivity rights in Sports broadcasting.

The minister described the new Federal Government regulations as major boost for local contents which has for long been rolling without getting the importance it deserves.

“This decision is a positive one for our sports development and will spur content production, investment and boost the business of sports”, Sunday Dare tweeted.

This new regulation will create a competitive environment among broadcast firms and therefore offer millions of Nigerians the chance to watch their favorite sporting event at a cheaper rate.
