The Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare has been unveiling his vision for the ministry as he promised critical engagement and head on confrontation of issues affecting youths and sports development in the country.
Dare, who spoke shortly after resuming duties in Abuja, noted that areas under his purview require “thinking outside the box” while new ideas should be generated to drive the growth desired by stakeholders.
The Minister said “Youth development across all sectors is a priority, we use sports to engage youths but we will now work on using other sectors to develop and empower our youths.”
He congratulated the national female basketball team, D’Tigress over their victory at 2019 AfroBasket Women’s Nation’s Cup title in Dakar, Senegal as he disclosed that efforts are in top gear to host and reward the team.
The Minister announced that athletes that have excelled and won laurels for the country would be considered as coaches for the sports in which they have represented the country.
Dare said attention will be given to other sports at the same level as football that is already popular among Nigerian.
