The National Chairman of The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus has charged the newly inaugurated executive committee members of the party to ensure PDP is returned to seat of power in Oyo state in 2019 elections.
Secondus made the call at the inauguration of Oyo state Excos at the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja on Monday.
Represented by the national legal adviser, Barr Emmanuel Enoidem, Secondus charged the Exco led by Alhaji Omokunmi Mustapha to go back to the state and bring everyone under one roof to ensure the state regains the lost seat at the government house and various elective offices.
He emphasized that the ceremony is epochal and lauded the efforts of the new chairman to bring unity in the party in Oyo state and asked all members to support him.
He later conducted inauguration rite with administration of oath of allegiance and office on the executive members present.
He promised members of the party that this administration will follow the constitution of the party to the letter. He disclosed that the National Chairman has promised total support to the Oyo state Exco ably led by Mustapha, Secretary, Hon Wasiu Adeleke, Organising Secretary, Hon Taiwo Alagbe, Woman Leader, Mrs Wulemot Ibitoye, Vice Chairman South Sir Micheal Olawuwo among others.
Earlier, The zonal chairman, South west, Dr Eddy Olafeso who was visibly happy with the inauguration reminded party supporters present that the inauguration ought to have taken place about six months ago but expressed joy that it did happen today.
Olafeso reiterated that Senator Rashidi Ladoja remains the leader of the party in the state and thanked those who have worked tirelessly to ensure peace is restored in the state chapter of the party.
He emphasised that Oyo state is in dire need of quality Leaders which PDP is capable of bringing to the saddle.
In his remark at the event the national youth leader, declared that this is a reborn and rebranded party it is time to work selflessly. He warned Youth and women to desist from engaging in any exercise that could bring division to the party. He advised Youth and women that the success of the party should be Paramount in their minds.
Among dignitaries and national leaders present at the event are the chairman of the state chairmen and Akwa-ibom State Chairman, Obong Paul Obong, the deputy national Organising Secretary, Bar Hassan Yakubu, the South west Zonal Secretary, Rev Bunmi Jenyo, Dr Agbo Emmanuel Deputy National Secretary. While Oyo state members include former deputy Chief Whip, Senator Hosea Agboola, Rt Hon Muraina Ajibola, Prof Tahoeed Adedoja, Chief Jacob Adetoro, Prince Dotun Oyelade to mention a few.
