The lawmaker representing the Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency, Oyo, Hon. (Prince) Akinmoyede Olafisoye Wasiu today bagged the prestigious award of excellence in Grassroot Empowerment and Community Development by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council.
While presenting the award held at the NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan at a public lecture/pen night programme which was part of activities marking the year 2024 NUJ Press Week, the Chairman of the union, Com. Ademola Babalola noted that the council found Hon. Lafi worthy of the award in recognition of his outstanding and unequalled support for the union in the state, its members and humanity in general.
He noted that the lawmaker has consistently championed the cause of the common man through initiatives that promote economic growth, job creation and improved social welfare of his constituents.
The President-General, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Barr. Ajeniyi Ajewole presented the award to Hon. Lafi who was represented by his Legislative Aide, Dr. Isiaq Akintunde on behalf of the union.
Responding to the award, Hon. Akinmoyede Olafisoye Wasiu who is the Chairman House Committee on Nigeria/Mexico Parliamentary Friendship appreciated the NUJ for finding him worthy of the award.
He added that the award would spur him not to relent in his mission to fulfill all his electioneering campaign promises for his constituents as a lawmaker representing Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Abuja.
Other notable personalities that were equally awarded alongside Hon. Lafi was the Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu who was the guest lecturer at the occasion.
Others were Senator Sarafadeen Alli, senator that represents Oyo South senatorial district, Hon. Remi Oseni that represents the Ido/Ibarapa East Federal constituency, Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle among others.
