Sympathizers had hectic time consoling traders at the Oke-Ado market who lost properties worth million of naira to an inferno.
Properties like electrical equipments, furnitures, house utensils, and cloths, among others were lost to the inferno.
According to a resident, Olalekan Okikiola, the inferno started in the early hours of Wednesday at Ile Ojagbusi as a result of an electric spark form an electric cooker that was on when the the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Conpany, IBEDC, brought light to the area.
“I was at my son’s coaching centre when I got a call that our house was on fire,” he explained.
He said that “No casualty was recorded but properties worth millions of naira were lost ranging from electrical equipments, furnitures, house utensils, and cloths, among others.”
Another victim, who is simply identified as Blessing, noted that all her properties are gone, adding that the only thing left for her was the cloth she wore.
“I wasn’t at home when the fire started, my children were at home, it took the intervention of some boys in our area to break my door before my children can be rescued from the inferno.
She added that all her valuables, worth several amounts of money were lost in the fire, noting that there is nothing left for her and the children to live on.
She however pleaded with the Oyo State government to quickly come to their aids.
