SEYI MAKINDE FLAYS AJIMOBI OVER FRESH FM DEMOLITION…
The gubernatorial aspirant under the peoples Democratic Party in oyo state Engnr Seyi Makinde has paid a solidarity visit to the Fresh FM Station which was demolished early this morning by the oyo state government.
In a statement issued by the Seyi Makinde organisation and signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade, Makinde said he had to personally visit the station to confirm the incident because he believed that no government under civilian rule could contemplate not to talk of actually bulldozing a popular Radio station under flimsy excuse.
Engr Makinde who met the chairman of the radio station, Dr Yinka Ayefele said that his visit was beyond politics as the sad development endangers freedom of speech which is the rock upon which true Democracy is built.
Walking through the ruins of the station amidst wild jubilation from thousands of people who thronged the station in sympathy and disbelief, Makinde said that what the state government did was selective justice, sparing hundreds of structures to target the radio Station out of sheer vendetta.
He encouraged the staff and management not to despair as better times will soon come
Your Action Is Callous, Inhuman, Alli Tells Ajimobi
African Democratic Congress, ADC, gubernatorial hopeful in Oyo state,Barr Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has described the demolition of the Fresh FM edifice as callous, inhuman and the highest degree of impunity.
In a swift reaction through his Media aide, Comrade Taiwo Ibrahim, Alli lamented that such an action could be taken in a supposedly democratic environment.
Alli wondered why a consideration cannot be given to allow for dialogue and embrace the rule of law especially where the means of livelihood of hundreds are involved.
“This is impunity of the highest order,”Alli contended,”if a single individual could be giving life to people, something the government has failed to abdicating its own social responsibility, and we feel the best way to reward him is to bring him down for the only reason known to the governor, then no one is safe again.
Alli commiserates with the management of the Fresh FM and urged the judiciary to allow the law to take its course.
