OYOINSIGHT.COM understands that there have been disputes over who steps in as Iyaloja-general of Oyo State. While the Olubadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji installed Chief Y.K Abass as the Babaloja-general, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi has installed Princess Abeo Nurudeen as Iyaloja-general.

Abeo, who was led into the palace by market leaders which included the Babaloja of Oyo State, Chief Y.K Abass, Iyadunni and host of others from across the state, was received by the Ibadan high chiefs and other top palace functionaries.

Sources who were privy to the visit confided in OYOINSIGHT.COM that “It initially looked like a summon from the start, but as we were preparing, the whole story was changing more to another intending coronation.

“Then this past weeks, the who-is-who in Ibadan and Oyo state in general had been on the matter. They were all coming together to resolve the issue, which we are sure they all have been seeing as a serious threat to the peace of our state.

“And I think it was also to put an end to a lot of speculations that our matter has caused rift between our two royal fathers – Alaafin and the Olubadan.

“The monarch met Princess Abeo in the presence of his high chiefs who form the Olubadan-in-council. And inside there, the matter was discussed from the beginning to where it is. And a decision was taken right there. The way the high chiefs spoke suggested that they have been on the matter for long.

“We are sure the matter has been laid to rest. And we are grateful to God,” the source added.

Another source said that “I’m very sure it has ended because it doesn’t look like something that was just discussed in there and concluded. It appeared like just a day picked to finalize what they have been discussing.”
In a telephone conversation, Abeo, who initially declined comments, said it was a family affairs. “I thank those who have stayed with us from day one. I express my gratitude. I will not betray the trust they have in me. Now that the matter has been resolved, the next thing is to reach out to my people on the other side. It is normal for something like this to happen. We are all for the progress of the association. They are not enemies but partners in progress.”
