It seems Sen. Teslim Folarin is fast becoming a power broker in the Nigerian Senate.
Folarin, who was the Senate leader between 2007 and 2011, is one of those supporting Sen. Ahmed Lawan’s senate presidency bid.
OYO INSIGHT recalled that Folarin was recently re-elected for a third term on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, after 8 years absence.
Folarin represented Oyo Central senatorial district between 2003 and 2011 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. He couldn’t contest in 2011 as he had a leadership tussle with then governor Adebayo Alao-Akala. In 2015, he lost his bid to oust governor Abiola Ajimobi from office.
Only last week, OYO INSIGHT reported how Folarin had started mobilizing support for the speakership ambition of Hon. Olusegun Odebunmi (Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere federal constituency.
Yesterday, when Lawan kicked off his campaign for the number three position in Lagos, Folarin sat beside him together with Senators Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North), Oluremi Tinubu (Lagos Central), Solomon Adeola (Lagos West), Senators-elect Ifeanyi Ubah (Anambra), Bayo Osinowo (Lagos East), Opeyemi Bamidele (Ekiti Central), Prince Dayo Adeyeye (Ekiti South), Lekan Mustapha, Adeleke Oriolowo and Senator Aliemekena (Edo North).
Lawan who later urge the senators-elect to endorse him at the in-house poll.
