Oyo Police Arrest 6 NURTW Members Over Mayhem

The Oyo State Police Command says it has arrested six members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers ( NURTW), Oyo State chapter for allegedly causing trouble at motor parks.
The state police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi on Thursday said the suspe ts were arrested at Orita Challenge and at Agodi area of the Ibadan.
He said those arrested would be charged to court Friday.
His words: “Three NURTW miscreants were arrested at our Challenge division on Wednesday and the other three were nabbed on Thursday at Agodi area.
“The DPO in Agodi with the assistance from the SARS made the latest arrests possible. They (NURTW) members have been warned from fomenting troubles in the state.”
Asked if there were arms and ammunition recovered from them, the PPRO said the reports sent to the police command did not reflect any seized items.
The police, in the build up to the swearing in of Governor Seyi Makinde on Wednesday, had warned that those threaten the peace n the state will be ruthlessly dealt with.
Factional members of the union had been threatening to effect a change of leadership in the state’s NURTW immediately Makinde was sworn in.
