Oyo PDP Youths Pass Confidence Vote On Makinde, Agree To Work With Fakorede

Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, youths from across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State yesterday met in Ibadan, the state capital, and passed a vote of confidence on Governor Seyi Makinde for all he has done since assumption office.
At the meeting which held at the Molete party secretariat and attended by speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin; Muhammad Fadeyi, Hon Fatokun, Hon Akeem Adedibu, Hon Babajide Gabriel, Hon Yusuf Adebisi,  Engr Akeem Olatunji, Asiwaju Adekola Adeoye, Adeniyi Rotimi Johnson Ojasope, Alh Isiaka  and other stakeholders, they agreed to work with 27-year old commissioner-designate, Seun Fakorede.
OYO INSIGHT learnt that the youths of the party had initially expressed displeasure with the nomination.
The youths, however, advised the governor to properly engage them and be given a sense of belonging, adding that positions that are meant for the youths should be given to youths within the ages of 18 to 40.

COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT THE END OF THE OYO STATE PDP YOUTH STAKEHOLDERS’ MEETING ORGANISED BY THE OYO STATE PDP YOUTH LEADER, ASIWAJU ADEKOLA ADEOYE, ON THE STATE OF THE PARTY HELD AT THE PARTY’S STATE SECRETARIAT, MOLETE, IBADAN ON FRIDAY, 23RD AUGUST, 2019 WHERE A VOTE OF CONFIDENCE WAS PASSED ON GOV. SEYI MAKINDE
INTRODUCTION
The meeting was called to intimate the entire youths of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the issue of the commissioners recently appointed by His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo State and the attending feedback generated. It was also intended to call the attention of the teeming PDP youths across the state to the need to support the Governor in his bid to take Oyo state to enviable heights within the short possible period. The meeting was still put In place to caution all the PDP social media (online) activists to desist from publishing protests and stories that are inimical to the progress of the party and the government of Oyo state under the leadership of Engr Seyi Makinde.

SUMMARY OF SPEECHES OF THE CONVENER AND THE GUESTS
Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin, Hon. Abiodun Fadeyi, Hon. Olajide Fatokun and Hon. Yusuf Adebisi brought the message of hope to the party’s youths. Equally, the welcome address by Asiwaju Adekola Adeoye and the remarks made by Engr Akeem Olatunji, Mr Adeniyi Adeniyi Johnson Ojasope and Mrs Bola Fatoki were meant to caution the youths of the party to be patient with Engr Seyi Makinde, reaffirming that he (Engr  Seyi Makinde) will ensure that benefits reach the teeming youths that worked for the party. They, however, stated that the positions of commissioners are not the only means through which youths will benefit from the government. They highlighted some other ways.
SUMMARY OF THE DECISIONS/RESOLUTIONS/SUGESTIONS REACHED/MADE AT THE END OF THE MEETING
By the end of the meeting that was well attended by the party’s youths across the 33 Local governments of Oyo state, the following resolutions/decisions/suggestions were reached/made:
1. That the youth of the party should be properly engaged and be given a sense of belonging in this present government of Oyo state.
2. That positions specifically meant for the youths be given to youths between the ages 18 and 40 years.
3. That appointments meant for the youths should be given to those (youths) that really worked for the party before, during and after the last general elections.
4. That all state appointments meant for the youths should emerge from the youths and be endorsed by the youth wing of the party. Appointments in this category include, but not limited to: Special Adviser, Senior Special Assistant, Special Assistant on Youth and Sports; S.A on Education and Student Affairs; Youth Agency; Chairman and Members of Crown FC; Chairman and Members of  Shooting Stars Sports Club; Chairmen and members of other agencies, boards and commissions.
5. Appeals were made that the governor should create employment opportunities for the teeming jobless youths.
6. That the government of Oyo state should identify talents and promote such among the youths.
7. It was resolved that party structure should be considered in the actions and activities of Engr Seyi Makinde. This is because party structure is the nerve centre of any government and its vehicle should be well oiled and maintained.
8. The offices of the Secretaries to all local government councils across the state should be manned by youths that worked for the party.
9. Local and ward youth leaders should also develop resolutions in their various constituencies through anyone that the constituencies have in the government.
10. More structured youth meetings from ward to state levels should be put in place.
11. The forum charged Engr Seyi Makinde to revive the office of the Supervisory Councillor for Youths and Sports at the local government level, praying the Governor that the offices be manned by youths.
12. Those active from various wards should be councillors and supervisory councillors.
13. In the board creation, youths who are eminently qualified should be appropriately added.
14. The governor should ensure that political appointments, jobs, contracts, among others, meant for youths are balanced in terms of gender. 
15. An appeal was made that the Governor should assist to dislodge the APC leaders/members who are monopolising federal benefits in our state.
16. The youths of the party have been advised to be patient, united, tolerant, and peaceful as benefits are enormous in government.
17. Governor Seyi Makinde was lauded for being a listening leader, unlike the former governor in the state.
18. To channel our energies to activities that will bring about improvement.
19. All the youth organisations that worked for the party to team up with Ward, LG and State Youth leaders to harmonise for effective achievement of our goals.
20. HAVING REACHED THE HIGHLIGHTED RESOLUTIONS, THE YOUTHS IN ATTENDACE, ON BEHALF OF THE ENTIRE YOUTHS OF THE PARTY IN THE STATE, PASSED VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON HIS EXCELLENCY, ENGR SEYI MAKINDE, THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF OYO STATE AND RESOLVE TO SUPPORT HIS GOVERNMENT AT ALL TIMES.
