APC Meets Lawmakers-elect, Settles For Ex-speaker As Oyo Assembly Minority Leader

Ahead of today’s inauguration of the 9th Oyo State House Assembly, the state working committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC met yesterday and settled for Hon. Asimiyu ‘Niran Alarape as its endorses candidate for the minority leadership position.
He is the only second term lawmaker out of the 5 APC honourables to be inaugurated today. Alarape, who was elected to represent Atiba State Constituency in the just concluded election, was speaker from November 1999 to June 2003.
The metallurgical graduate of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, is arguably the oldest in the Assembly.
OYO INSIGHT recalls that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had won 26 seats leaving the APC with 5 seats and Action Democratic Party, ADP, with 1 seat.
This newspaper learnt that the PDP has settled for 31-year old Ogundoyin Adebo Edward, representing Ibarapa East state constituency as speaker with Fadeyi Abiodun Aderemi of Ona Ara state constituency as his deputy.
Onaolapo Sanjo Adedoyin of Ogbomoso South state constituency has been considered for the majority leadership position.
