Isaac Kekemeke, chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the southwest has described as false, statement credited to Adebayo Adelabu, governorship candidate of Accord that Bola Tinubu, APC’s presidential candidate is aware of his defection.
The former Ondo state chairman of the party, who was in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, to meet chairmen of the party from the southwest.
According to him, it is unthinkable for anyone to say the presidential candidate of the APC will support another governorship aspirant in the state.
“It is unthinkable and ‘un-Asiwaju to do such thing. Like you all know, our candidate in Oyo state is Sen. Teslim Folarin and that is Asiwaju’s preferred candidate.
“Nobody should drop Asiwaju’s name in a bid to sell him or herself. To us in the party, from Abuja to the southwest to the state level, Sen. Folarin is our candidate and he is the one all of us would support in the election.”
He also spoke on reconciliatory efforts in the party in Oyo, adding that “Luckily, I met the chairman of the reconciliation committee, Sen. Olufemi Lanlehin, and he told me about how far they have gone. I know we are almost getting there, peace is gradually returning.”
On Muslim-Muslim ticket, he said what Nigerians are yearning is a pan-Nigeria president and not of religion. “I am a Christian and I don’t have issue with it.”
