Some leaders and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Oke-Ogun geopolitical zone of Oyo State have lauded a gubernatorial hopeful of the party, Dr. Olusola Ayandele, over what they called “his initiative to consult widely with all relevant stakeholders across the state in his bid to emerge the governor in the next year general election. Speaking on behalf of APC leaders and stakeholders at his residence in Saki on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by Ayandele, a frontline politician, Alhaji Yekini Arikose, observed that the painstaking efforts of the gubernatorial aspirant would assist him at the right time especially when the party decide to pick one among many contenders who have been showing interest.
“Most of us who live outside Ibadan- the state capital have seen a unique feature in you (Ayandele) as you have prioritized the need for wide consultation in your quest to govern the state. With your rich credentials and presentation, we are convinced that you would make a lot of difference if given the chance and we will support you.” Arikose said.
While addressing a mammoth crowd of party faithful and supporters who gathered to receive him at the Saki City Hall in Saki, Ayandele submitted that he decentralize governance such that residents of every other part of the state would feel a better sense of belonging with greater attention to the grassroots.
“If I have the opportunity to be sworn-in as governor in May, 2019, I would make sure that the Executive Arm of government does not only operate from the state capital. I would ensure that the whole cabinet and others that are relevant move round the state and spend adequate time with the people in order to have a first-hand knowledge of what they need and how to satisfy them.
“I urge you all to keep supporting the administration of Sen. Abiola Ajimobi and also keep faith with the APC regardless of some challenges at hand which are being addressed by the appropriate authorities. Since governance is all about the welfare of the people, we would not be tired of consulting the stakeholders regardless of the distance or whatever challenge.” Ayandele submitted.
Party leaders from the six local government areas of Oke-Ogun ll who were in attendance include; Pa Moses Adeyemo, Alh. Yekini Ojongbodu, Chief Moses Odekunle, Mrs Juliannah Ajuwon and Hon. Dauda Salihu Ajana.
On Ayandele’s visiting team were his wife, Dr. Olayinka Ayandele, Hon. Yinka Taiwo, Hon. Ademola Ojo, Hon. Adetunji Omolewu, Mr. Olawale Odu, Mrs Omolola Ojo and Hon. Sola Fakorede.
