A coalition of over 300 voluntary youth organizations in Oyo State has endorsed the second-term bid of Governor Seyi Makinde.
The coalition of young people in the state declared their support for the Governor at a Press conference held at the secretariat of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in Ibadan on Thursday.
Speaking at the event, the Convener of the coalition, Mogaji Olajuwon Zubair noted that the outstanding performance of the Governor is obvious to all residents of the state.
“We the newly formed coalition of youths organizations in Oyo State are here to declare our support for the re-election bid of Engr Seyi Makinde,” he said.
He explained that the coalition is an exciting development that brings young people from different backgrounds in the state.
“We the youths are the ones who will shape the direction of the state, it’s therefore essential that the youths are invested in politics.
In the same vein, the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in the state, Abdulqodri Abdulsalam charged young people to shun violence during the gubernatorial election on Saturday.
“We declare publicly that youths of Oyo state should come out and vote peacefully for our candidates of choice and make sure we are not used for political thuggery.
“At the same time, we urge politicians to accept the outcome of the polls and take any grievances we have to the Election tribunal. We are sure that by Gods grace, we will have a free, fair and credible election,” he noted.
