Afeez Bolaji Repete, former deputy national youth leader of the All Progressives Congress, has said that only Teslim Folarin, governorship candidate of the party, can deliver Oyo State for Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the APC.
Speaking when the youth wing of the party in the state hosted Seyi Tinubu, son of the former Lagos governor in Ibadan, the former special adviser to late former governor Abiola Ajimobi on youth and sports, urged the leadership of the party to work with the three-term senator to achieve success, especially in the state.
”We welcome Mr. Seyi Tinubu to our dear state. Our national leader and presidential candidate of our party was here few days ago. And I think you too would have seen what we pulled in Oyo State. It was Sen. Teslim Folarin and other leaders of our party who rallied round people to achieve that feat.
“Let me say this. Governor ‘Seyi Makinde has no input in the success of the rally. The success was as a result of efforts all the leadership of APC and the reconciliatory efforts of Senator Folarin in rallying round all the different tendencies in the party. As I speak, Governor Makinde doesn’t have the courage to tell his people about Asiwaju. He dare not tell them about Asiwaju. He knows what they will do to him. In fact, he has continued to campaign for Atiku Abubakar.
Before now, Sen. Teslim Folarin has gone round the state to campaign for our candidates, starting from Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. For us, young progressives, we believe that APC must win the next election at the centre and in the state. One, PDP has ruined the gains of the 8 years of progressive governance engineered by our late leader, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi. Two, we need to win so as to groom the next set of leaders because we cannot entrust our state in the hands of misfits. Sen. Folarin is our standard bearer and he has our supports,” he explained.
Corroborating him, a former youth leader of the party in the state, Abiodun Ambali, said that the best thing is for the party to rally round both the presidential and governorship candidates in order to make Oyo better.
According to Ambali, who was a special assistant to Ajimobi, having the governor and the president from the same party always bring the needed development and collaboration.
Idris Ajimobi, who is the party’s candidate for Ibadan South West state constituency 2, urged the youths to campaign till victory is assured for Tinubu, Folarin and other candidates of the party, saying that is one of the ways to honour the memory of his late dad.
Earlier while welcoming Tinubu to Ibadan, youth leader of the party, Aremu John, thanked him for the support extended to the he and his colleagues since they assumed office, promising not to betray the trust.
Thanking the youths for the reception, the young Tinubu who has toured virtually all the state to mobilize support for the aspiration of his dad, promised that the incoming Tinubu administration would be pro-youths and pro-masses.
He said that Tinubu is known for excellence and grooming of young leaders.
