The Congress monitored by one of our correspondents had delegates from across the six geo-political zones of the country in attendance.

Olowonjaye, in his address to the delegates narrated the struggles that gave birth to the National body of the group. “PAG started as Political Action Committee in the 90s” Olowonjaye began, “it was the brainchild of the former Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, late Dr. Abduljelil Adebayo Amoloye”. He said the aim of the group at its formation was to advocate for good governance, call for active involvement and participation in politics, policy making and advance the collective interests of Muslims in the country.

He added that what started as PAC eventually morphed into Political Awareness Group which has championed justice, fairness and equity in the State. He noted that the need for the National body of the group was to harness the numerical strengths of the Muslims in the country to call for robust participation in politics and foster unity in diversity.
