A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Oyo State, Alhaji Kehinde Olaosebikan has congratulated the newly elected chairman of the party in the state, HE Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo and his executive members, just as he commended the Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle led Zoning Committee for the state party congress, for restoring the evasive peace and unity in the Oyo APC.
Olaosebikan in a statement issued in Ibadan Thursday noted that with the successful completion of the ward, local government and state congresses of APC without any faction or break away, the Ibikunle team has laid a solid foundation for the desired exponential growth of the party in all the nooks and crannies of Oyo State.
According to him, winning all elections, including the governorship and state assembly, which were mostly won by another party in the last two elections, would now be a simple task with total victory.
Olaosebikan, a former Chairman of Oluyole Local Government Council, said that the development has brought joy and happiness to the generality of members of the party and other progressive minded politicians in other parties who have immediately expressed interest in returning to the progressive fold.
‘’In a clear display of selflessness, political sagacity and adroitness, Ibikunle who has been the leader of the progressives in the state for about a decade has brought back pride and dignity last witnessed in the party about eight years ago to our great party,’’ Olaosebikan said, adding that:
‘’Since its formation, the All Progressives Congress had only organised a successful party elective congress in Oyo State as all others after the maiden congress bred disunity and fragmentation in the party.’’
Prior to the 2019 general elections, he continued, ‘’ the congresses held in Oyo State did not yield good results as they divided the party with many notable leaders and members defecting to the African Democratic Party, ADC. This subsequently resulted in the party losing the control of the state to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP when Engineer Seyi Makinde unexpectedly became the governor of the state.
‘’Similar situations prevailed in 2023, when the party could not produce a single list of executive committees leading to the polarisation of the party, aftermath of which made the party lose the gubernatorial election and a number of the state assembly seats to the PDP.
Olaosebikan expressed optimism that with Chief Moses Alake as the new helmsman, APC has come to permanently take its rightful position of leader in the pacesetter state.
He lauded Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle and his committee made up of Hon. Afeez Bolaji Repete, Hon. Idris Adeoye, Hon. Akeem Olatunji, Hon. Boye Sangogade and Hon. Adesoji Adedeji for bringing genuine peace, unity, dignity, and pride back to the APC.
He said members of the committee deserve the commendation of all.
