Winner of last Saturday’s Ibarapa East State Constituency bye-election, Adebo Ogundoyin has revealed that the internal wrangling within the members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, aided his victory.
Contrary to claims that some stalwarts of the ruling APC worked for his victory, 31-year old Ogundoyin, who is of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, revealed that the leadership crisis within the APC affected the fortunes of the party as they were not motivated to campaign for the candidate of their party.
Ogundoyin fielded questions while featuring on a weekly programme anchored by Mayor Isaac Brown on Fresh FM 105.9 FM, Ibadan and monitored by Insight Oyo.
The seat had become became following the death of Speaker Adeyemo Michael, who represented the constituency between 2011 and 2018.
Ogundoyin, who insisted he was not foisted on anybody as he was made to face primaries, added that he could have won the election from any party as he had already started preparations for 2019 elections before the seat became vacant.
According to him, “I didn’t win because of sharing goodies, I have been with them for long, Not long ago, I empowered them. This has always been the case, especially during festive period. They are my people,” he added.
This is just as he pledged to combat teenage pregnancy which is on the increase in his constituency.
