Ogbomoso Loses Chief Imam, Sports Minister Mourns

    Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Sunday Dare has described the demise of Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland, Alhaji AbdulYekini Asafa as a huge loss to Ogbomoso and environs.

    Extolling the virtues of the late Islamic leader, Dare stressed that the deceased used his religious platform to advocate peace and unity in Ogbomoso and Oyo state in general.

    The Minister noted that the late Chief Imam was easy-going, kind-hearted and selfless, adding that the deceased will be remembered for his good deeds.

    In a condolence message to the muslim ummah, Dare, who is also Agbaakin of Ogbomosoland, called on the muslim community in Ogbomoso to uphold the worthy legacies of the late Islamic leader, adding that the deceased was committed to peaceful co-existence among people of various religious faiths.

    He said, “I commiserate with the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade 111 and the entire muslim community in Ogbomoso, over the demise of Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland, Alhaji AbdulYekini Asafa.

    “The late Islamic leader was a strong advocate of peace unity and progress.

    “He was committed to the development of Ogbomoso.

    “The late Chief Imam was a father to all regardless of religious differences.

    “He was indeed a compassionate religious leader.

    “As he departs this sinful world, I pray to Allah to grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus”.

    The Minsiter extended his condolences to the entire Asafa family and the League of Imams and Alfas in Yorubaland, Edo and Delta states.
