The Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has commiserated with the media outfit over the inferno that gutted it yesterday.
“The executives and entire members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, BCOS Chapel wish to convey our deepest sympathies to the Board, Management and staff of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State on the unfortunate fire incident that razed a section of our studios at Ile Akede Orita Basorun, ko Ibadan on Wednesday,20th April,2023.
“Although no life was lost in the incident,we noted that several transmitting equipment and facilities which costs are yet to be determined were destroyed while the unfortunate incident lasted.
“We commend the Management for its prompt intervention in mobilizing members of staff and three fire services-Oyo State Fire Service, Federal Fire Service and the Nigerian Air Force-to arrest and prevent the rampaging inferno from spreading to the other parts of the Corporation’s building.
“We also appreciate the solidarity received from the Oyo state chapter of our noble union,N.U.J. led by Comrade Ademola Babalola who rushed to our station while the rescue efforts were on, veteran journalists and broadcasters and our colleagues from other media establishments who stood by us through personal visits, phone calls and messages.
“We use this opportunity to call on the Oyo State government under the able leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde to come to the aid of our broadcasting outfit to renovate the damaged building and replace the precious broadcast equipment and other items lost to the fire incident.
“We stand solidly behind the Board and management at this trying period.
Thank you.
