Soji Oyeranmi, Father of 11 years old girl diagnosed with Spasigertic quadriparesis Cerebral in 2010 at University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, has cried out to Nigerians for help, saying that Nigerians should come to his aide because his daughter is dying
Oyeranmi, who is a lecturer at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State said that his daughter, Oyinkansola Oyeranmi has been suffering from the illness for the past 10 years when she was admitted for two weeks at the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan
“From what we gathered from health consultant and expert, we were told to flown the little girl oversea in other to saved her life, Weber Medical GmbH in Germany was thereafter recomended for us as the best place to go for the treatment.
Oyeranmi noted that the actually amount needed for the treatment was 20,000 heroe which was 8.7 million when converted to naira, which covers her daughters transportation to Germany, accommodation and treatment, but the money has jumped to over nine million naira due to the rise in foreign exchange but they were able to raised only 1.5 million out of the total amount
According to him, health consultant and experts told him that the illness was a brain injury that has affected her daughters coordination, adding that it is a life long issue which can only be maintained with the use of new technology
He added that the illness has affected his daughter’s alot to the extend that she virtually can not do everything like eating, walking talking and sitting among others
“We have been on this issue over a decade ago, she has been attending neurological and physiotherapy section at UCH, the illness is uncommon and there is no singular expert that can handled the illness in Nigeria due to lack of facilities
While aswering question on efforts made so far in solving the problem, Oyeranmi said “We have opened Gofund Me account for her through a friend in United State, we also opened a digital appeal for her, and people has been donating, we have also tried to raise public awareness about the issue, we have wrote to the Oyo State governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, Lagos State governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwolu, Yinka Ayefele and other prominent Nigerians but all these are not yielding positive results
“Oyinkansola is my only child, and I love her so much, she can survived this illness if adequate care is giving to her and people come to our aide, am calling all lovers of humanity in Nigeria and all over the world to please come and help my daughter, Nigerians are special people because they love helping one anothers
“God has a purpose for my daughter, that is why she is still alive, she ought to have died since because people believe that any body with this condition should be thrown away because the illness is uncommon
