MSSN Oorelope Central Branch Honors Five At 2025 Ileya Get Together

The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Oorelope Central Branch, Igboho, hosted a colourful Ileya Get-Together and Civic Reception on Sunday, 8th June, 2025 at the City Hall, Owode, Igboho.

The event, held in honour of five illustrious indigenes recently elevated to prominent positions in academia and public service, was well-attended.

Honoured at the event were Alhaji Rafiu Adeladan Olarinre, recently appointed Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy; Alhaji Alade Bello, Permanent Secretary of the Oyo State Pension Board; Professor Jamiu Adetayo Adeniran of the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Ilorin; Professor Mariam Adepeju Abdulraheem-Mustapha of the Department of Public Law, University of Ilorin; and Professor Azizat Omotoyosi Amoloye-Adebayo, from the Department of Islamic Law, University of Ilorin.

The event drew a large gathering of dignitaries, students, religious leaders, traditional chiefs, and members of the community, underscoring the importance of education, leadership, and faith in the socio-cultural life of Igboho and Oorelope Local Government at large.

In his speech, the Ameer of the branch, Mallam Abdulazeez Isiaq Obansola noted that the occasion of the Ileya Get Together/Civic Reception presents the perfect opportunity for the society to rejoice with all the honorees on their respective career successes, adding that the event equally afforded the society to re-assess itself, build on its strengths and address its weaknesses.

Delivering the keynote lecture titled “Sustainable Community Development: Muslims on Call”, Professor Sirajudeen Adam of the Department of Arabic Studies, Federal University of Lafia, Lafia, charged Muslim professionals and youth to take proactive roles in shaping their communities.

He emphasized the importance of combining faith, knowledge, and service in fostering sustainable growth. “True development starts from within the community. Our faith emphasis functional education, honesty, dedication, and compassion,” he said.

In his remark, the chairman of the day, Barr. Adeleke Yusuf Adeniran commended the leadership of the MSSN, Oorelope Central Branch for organizing such a befitting civic reception in honour of the five distinguished personalities. He praised the group for fostering unity, community development and Islamic ethics and values.

The reception also featured goodwill messages from prominent figures, including Hon. (Dr) Prince Olaide Lateef Mohammed, the Member Representing Irepo/Oorelope/Olorunsogo Federal Constituency, who commended the honourees for bringing pride to Igboho and inspiring the next generation.

Also in attendance was Hon. Lukman Ishola Jimoh (Omo Bed), member representing Oorelope State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Sarafadeen Yusuf (Al-Wajud), Special Assistant on Political Matters to the Federal Constituency Representative; representative of the Vice Chairman, Oorelope local government, Hon. Babatunde Wasiu, former chairman, Oorelope local governor, Hon. Ganiyu Yaqub Adesola, Alhaji Adegoke Hammed, President of Ifelodun Omo-Igboho.

Others are Prince Yisau Olabimtan, Chairman, Idagbasoke Omo-Igboho; Alhaji Saminu Owoade, former Chairman of Igbope Community; High Chief Alhaji Adelani Olowookere, the Bobagunwa of Igboholand, Hon. Lukman Balogun, Alhaji Jamiu Aleem, Engr. Raheem Alabi, Engr. Kabir Olayide Olakulehin, Hon. Asimi Alabi among others.
